Good questions to discuss with your out of hospital midwife: 

1. What is their transfer protocol?
2. What hospital do they transfer to?
3. What is their relationship with the hospital?
4. What do they transfer for?
5. Who is a good backup provider in case you rule in as “high risk” late in pregnancy ?
6. Do I need to stay at the hospital
7. Is it messy if I give birth at home 

Good questions to discuss with your in hospital midwife:

1. What would “risk me out” of midwifery care?
2. Are you a teaching institution? Will there be students at my birth?
3. Am I still able to have a low intervention birth in the hospital?
4. Are midwives always available in the hospital, or will I have an OB/GYN at my birth?
