American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM)
- The professional association that represents certified nurse midwives and certified midwives in the United States. Has many opportunities for engagement with other student midwives & practicing midwives, scholarships, advocacy, volunteer opportunities. They also provide up to date information on continuing education and employment opportunities.
- An organization established to support BIPOC aspiring midwives on their journey to an education in midwifery through providing shadowing, mentoring, and community spaces.
- Black Mamas Matter Alliance is a Black women-led cross-sectoral alliance. We center Black mamas to advocate, drive research, build power, and shift culture for Black maternal health, rights, and justice
California Association of Licensed Midwives (CALM)
- This organization works at the state level to support legislation that advances the autonomy of midwives and expands access to midwifery care for all families.
California Nurse Midwives Association (CNMA)
- An affiliate of the ACNM, CNMA is the professional organization that represents certified nurse midwives and certified midwives in California. CNMA works to improve access to midwifery care, improve maternal and child health care outcomes including reducing racism based disparities, and to advance sexual and reproductive healthcare in California. CNMA provides information on continuing education and community with other midwives.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)
- A list of resources to engage in as part of ACNM’s commitment to diversity and including within the organization. Here, ACNM provides information on their organization’s anti-racism strategic roadmap, important articles, webinars, & resources, and donation suggestions for those in support of anti-racism efforts.
Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA)
- An inclusive midwifery association that is dedicated to the professional development of midwives. The organization holds an annual national conference where midwives and midwifery students come together.
- An organization dedicated to increasing the number of certified nursing and professional melanated midwives. They provide mentorship guidance after graduation from a midwifery program as they seek employment in the healthcare workforce, in addition to scholarship support to student midwives of color.
National Association to Advance Black Birth (NAABB)
- The NAABB stands firmly on ICTC’s 30-year legacy in promoting midwives, doulas and training programs to improve the care of Black women, persons and infant
National Black Doulas Association
- The NBDA connects Black birthing families with Black Doulas nationwide. Their overall mission at NBDA is to help fight the Balck Maternal Mortality rate in this country and beyond, through educational development and empowerment. They provide a professional Doula Directory and resources for Black Doulas. Through continuous development opportunities, they help strengthen their Doula business infrastructure.
National Black Midwives Alliance
- Our goal is to have a representative voice at the national level that clearly outlines the various needs of Black Midwives.
North American Registry of Midwives (NARM)
- This organization sets the standards for the Certified Professional Midwife, which is for those midwives with knowledge and experience in out of hospital settings.
